 Trip description:

Day 1 / May 31 / Sunday

Arrival in Istanbul. In the evening, we will meet for our "big briefing," where we will explain the basics of our tour. Afterwards, we will have our welcome dinner.

Day 2 / June 1st / Monday

Istanbul – Amasra, 425 km

Goodbye Istanbul! Our Eastern adventure begins. Early this morning, we pick up our motorbikes from the rental office. We leave Istanbul, and with it, the European continent. Welcome to Asia! Soon after, we reach the well-maintained coastal road that hugs the Black Sea, and then head inland through lush forests. This makes for a truly complete day!

Our destination today is the small coastal town of Amasra.

Istanbul – Karasu – Eregli – Zonguldak – Amasra

Day 3 / June 2nd / Tuesday

Amasra – Sinop, 320 km.

Today promises to be a varied day. The coastal road is sometimes narrow and winding. We'll hug the coast, pass through verdant forests, and come across small villages. Long beaches stretch out to our left, and imposing mountains rise to our right. A fabulous day on a motorbike. In the late afternoon, we'll arrive in Sinop, a popular seaside resort town.

Amasra – Inebolu – Guezelkent – Sinop

Day 4 / June 3 / Wednesday

Sinop – Amasya, 260 km.

From Sinop, we'll continue our journey along the Black Sea coast. At Samsung, we'll leave the coast behind. We'll drive along good roads that climb a mountainous plateau. A varied landscape accompanies us to our destination for the day, Amasya. Amasya lies between two mountain ranges and is bisected by the Yesilirmak River. In the 14th century, Amasya experienced its golden age under the Ottoman Empire. This history can still be felt today.

Sinop – Bafra – Samsung – Amasya

Day 5 / June 4th / Thursday

Amasya – Goereme, 330 km.

We left Amasya and drove along roads that were partly mountainous and winding, but also along long straight stretches across vast plains. Suddenly, we were back in the mountainous landscape of Göreme.

We'll spend two nights there.

Amasya – Çorum – Yozgat – Göreme

Day 6 / June 5th / Friday

Rest day in Göreme (0 km).

Today is one of the highlights of our trip. We are in the famous Cappadocia region, world-renowned for its historical past and its landscape.

Cappadocia is a semi-arid region in central Turkey, known for its impressive "fairy chimneys": tall, conical rock formations clustered in the Valley of the Monks, Göreme, and other locations. Other notable sites include Bronze Age houses carved into the valley walls by troglodytes (cave dwellers) and later used as shelters by early Christians. The 100-meter-deep Ihlara Canyon is home to numerous rock-hewn churches.

We'll take a tour of the impressive historical area. The nearby underground city in Derinkuyu is also worth a visit.

Those who wish can take an early morning hot air balloon ride over the valley.

There's so much to do!

Day 7 / June 6 / Saturday

Goereme – Malatya, 420 km.

Today we have a day of "transportation" ahead of us. This means traveling from one region to another toward our next destination. Mostly by road, crossing mountainous landscapes or wide plains. In the afternoon, we arrive in Malatya, our destination for today.

Goereme – Malatya

Day 8 / June 7 / Sunday

Malatya – Nemrut Dagi – Osmaniye, 430 km

We left early. We visited another highlight of our trip: the famous Mount Nemrut Dagi, a world-renowned historical monument.

# Mount Nemrut Dagi is a 2150 m high mountain in southeastern Turkey, famous for the statues of a 1st century BC tomb on its summit. In 62 BC, King Antiochus I Theos of Commagene ordered the construction of a burial mound on the summit, flanked by colossal statues (8 to 9 m tall) of himself, two lions, two eagles, and various Armenian, Greek, and Persian gods, including Hercules, Zeus-Oromasdes (associated with the Persian god Ahura Mazda), Tyche, and Apollo-Mithras. Today, we can still admire the heads of the statues and enjoy a fascinating view.

We continue towards our destination for today, Osmaniye.

Malatya – Mount Nemrut – Adiyaman – Osmaniye

Day 9 / June 8 / Monday

Osmaniye – Anamur, 380 km.

Today we reach the Mediterranean Sea. We're heading from the mountains down to the lowlands at sea level. The landscape has changed. We drive along the coast to our destination for today, Anamur.

Osmaniye – Mersin - Anamur

Day 10 / June 9 / Tuesday

Anamur – Side, 430 km.

On the way to Side, we left the coastal road and crossed the Taurus Mountains. A long day, but one of the most spectacular of our trip. We arrived at our hotel in Side at dusk.

Anamur – Ermenek – Seydesehir – Side

Day 11 / June 10 / Wednesday

Side – Goecek, 390 km.

Leaving Side behind, we passed through Antalya and took the coastal road to Mamaris.

A wonderful winding route with fascinating views of the small bays by the sea.

We arrived in Goecek, where we will stay for two nights.

Day 12 / June 11 / Thursday

Goecek, 0 km.

We've earned another day of rest. This small coastal tourist town has something for everyone. Besides swimming and strolling, agencies offer boat trips to the idyllic beaches. Pure relaxation and pleasure!

Day 13 / June 12 / Friday

Goecek – Pamukkale, 270 km

After our day of rest, we continued our journey. Another highlight awaited us: Pamukkale, known for its limestone terraces. Hot water flows down the limestone terraces. A unique and well worth a visit!

Goecek – Mugla – Denizli – Pamukkale

Day 14 / June 13 / Saturday

Pamukkale – Selçuk, 200 km

Today it is a relatively short distance, as we will have the opportunity to visit the ruins of Ephesus, near Selçuk.

Ephesus is a famous archaeological site with ruins of Roman and Greek temples, as well as a theater and a library.

Pamukkale – Aydin – Selçuk

Day 15 / June 14 / Sunday

Selçuk – Balikesir, 280 km

We leave Selcuk heading north. We'll pass through Izmir and arrive at our hotel near Balikesir.

Selçuk – Balikesir

Day 16 / June 15 / Monday

Balikesir - Istanbul, 310 km

Our last day on the motorbike has begun. We're taking a direct route to Istanbul. There, we'll ride the final kilometers to the rental office to return our bikes. Afterward, we'll transfer to our hotel. In the evening, we'll gather for our farewell dinner, where we'll reflect on our last few days of travel together.
